Surveys

Cancer prevention and control are paramount, and our current emphasis on population and behavioral research informs our awareness initiatives and programs. Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices, and Beliefs (KAPB) are conducted among the different targets groups our awareness programs focus on. Our goal is to empower individuals, communities and health care providers worth accurate and well tailored information ,therefore ultimately reducing cancer incidence and mortality in Zimbabwe.

Knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of traditional healers towards cancer

In a groundbreaking initiative, Talk cancer zim collaborated with ZINPA, an association of Traditional Medical Practitioners in Zimbabwe to conduct a pivotal workshop on cancer awareness in Manicaland. This event marked the beginning of a comprehensive survey aimed at assessing the Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices, and Beliefs (KAPB) of traditional health practitioners regarding cancer.

The survey's findings were presented at the esteemed 12th Annual Global Scientific Research (AGSR) Conference, with the abstract published in the respected ASCO JCO Journal.( insert link) This research has significantly contributed to the understanding of traditional health practitioners' roles in cancer management and prevention in Zimbabwe.

By bridging the gap between traditional and modern healthcare practices, we are working towards:
  • Enhancing cancer awareness and education among traditional health practitioners.
  • Improving early detection and referral systems
  • Promoting culturally sensitive and effective cancer care

Join us in our mission to integrate traditional knowledge with modern healthcare practices, ultimately saving lives and improving cancer outcomes in Zimbabwe.
