WORLDWIDE, about 35 million people are living with HIV and Aids. More than half of these live in sub-Saharan Africa and approximately half are women. However, mortality rates in Zimbabwe attributed to the HIV and Aids epidemic continue to decline along with diagnosed infections.
As of 2018, UNAids reported that there had been a 60% decrease in Aids-related deaths since 2010, along with a 24 000 decrease in new HIV infections.
Statistics show that 60% of cancer patients are HIV positive.
